چکیده

We give an example of a simple separable C*-algebra which is not isomorphic to its opposite algebra. Our example is nonnuclear and stably finite, has real rank zero and stable rank one, and has a unique tracial state. It has trivial K1, and its K0-group is order isomorphic to a countable subgroup of R.

A Simple C∗-algebra with Finite Nuclear Dimension Which Is Not Z-stable

We construct a simple C∗-algebra with nuclear dimension zero that is not isomorphic to its tensor product with the Jiang–Su algebra Z, and a hyperfinite II1 factor not isomorphic to its tensor product with the separable hyperfinite II1 factor R. The proofs use a weakening of the Continuum Hypothesis. Elliott’s program of classification of nuclear (a.k.a. amenable) C∗-algebras recently underwent...

On the independence of K-theory and stable rank for simple C-algebras

Jiang and Su and (independently) Elliott discovered a simple, nuclear, infinite-dimensional C-algebra Z having the same Elliott invariant as the complex numbers. For a nuclear C-algebra A with weakly unperforated K∗-group the Elliott invariant of A ⊗ Z is isomorphic to that of A. Thus, any simple nuclear C-algebra A having a weakly unperforated K∗-group which does not absorb Z provides a counte...

A Nonseparable Amenable Operator Algebra Which Is Not Isomorphic to a C∗-algebra

It has been a longstanding problem whether every amenable operator algebra is isomorphic to a (necessarily nuclear) C∗-algebra. In this note, we give a nonseparable counterexample. The existence of a separable counterexample remains an open problem.

Simple nuclear C*-algebras not isomorphic to their opposites.

We show that it is consistent with Zermelo-Fraenkel set theory with the axiom of choice (ZFC) that there is a simple nuclear nonseparable [Formula: see text]-algebra, which is not isomorphic to its opposite algebra. We can furthermore guarantee that this example is an inductive limit of unital copies of the Cuntz algebra [Formula: see text] or of the canonical anticommutation relations (CAR) al...

Embedding of Exact

We prove that any separable exact C*-algebra is isomorphic to a subalgebra of the Cuntz algebra O2. We further prove that if A is a simple separable unital nuclear C*-algebra, then O2 ⊗ A ∼= O2, and if, in addition, A is purely infinite, then O∞ ⊗ A ∼= A. The embedding of exact C*-algebras in O2 is continuous in the following sense. If A is a continuous field of C*-algebras over a compact manif...
